Photos capture the essence of a tech-free childhood

Niki Boon decided when she was raising her children that she would do so in a rather unconventional way. She decided that her children would not have iPads, cell phones, computers, or anything of the sort.

Niki’s also a black and white photographer and decided early on to share her kids’ childhood to both allow the viewer to reminisce about their own childhood and to show how a childhood without technology in today’s tech-dominated world isn’t so bad.

Niki leaves no emotion unturned, whether it’s happiness, joy, sadness, loneliness, pain, etc. She’s able to convey emotion and tell a rich story despite the complete lack of glowing screens and instant gratification. Regardless of your feeling towards Niki’s parenting style, you can’t help but feel a longing for a simpler, slower life when viewing her photos.
